RULES AND REGULATIONS PERTAINING TO THE
ECKLEY RURAL CEMETERY DISTRICT NUMBER 2
Herein referred to as the Cemetery District
All persons are reminded that the Cemetery is sacredly devoted to the interment and repose of the dead, and it is expected that all persons will show due respect and observe all properties due such a place.
- MONUMENTS AND MARKERS
Persons erecting monuments or other structures, or doing work of any kind, will not be permitted to scatter material or rubbish over adjoining lots or leave the same on the ground longer than is absolutely necessary. They shall be required to complete their work as soon as possible after entering the Cemetery, and remove rubbish at once. In case of neglect, such removal of rubbish will be made by the Cemetery District at the expense of the lot owner or contractor.
Monument firms will be held responsible for any damage done whatsoever in the Cemetery, and shall at all times be subject to the control and direction of the Cemetery District. Planks must be provided for dumping and rolling stone on walks or grass. Monument firms and other are prohibited from placing their names on any work or signs with a view of advertising within the limits of the Cemetery.
Foundations shall be constructed of concrete and when completed the surface shall be level. Foundations shall not be less than five (5) inches longer and five (5) inches wider than the base stone of the monument.
All monuments shall be constructed of granite, standard bronze, marble, concrete, or like material that will not deteriorate and set upon bases as herein required. They must have level bottoms and be set upon foundations.
- GRAVE OUTSIDE CONTAINERS
A container constructed of material capable of supporting the earth above the grave will be required for each burial. Such container must be constructed of concrete, fiberglass, steel or similar material which will not deteriorate.
- PLANTINGS, DECORATIONS, ETC.
No rocks, trees or vegetation except native grasses will be allowed on the Cemetery plots.
Trees will be planted at the discretion of the Cemetery Board.
Flowers and decorations placed on markers or their foundations that are out of the way of the mowers and weedeaters, will be allowed to remain year round as long as they are in place and are not unsightly (faded and worn looking). All others will be removed and discarded by the 15th of each month.
Weed killer will be used only with the approval of the Cemetery Board.
If any tree, shrub, vine or plant growing upon any lot, walkway or road shall by means of its roots, branches, or otherwise become detrimental to the adjacent walkways or roads, or inconvenient, or interfere with the general design, The Cemetery District shall have the right to remove or cut same when in their judgement they may determine it to be for the best interests of the Cemetery grounds.
The Cemetery District reserves the right, without notice, to prohibit or remove from lots that which may be considered objectionable, unsightly or obstructive.
- GRAVE FENCING, RAILINGS, ETC.
Fencing, railings copings or other enclosures around lots or graves, wooden trellises and headboards of every description are positively prohibited.
The Cemetery District has the authority to maintain the grounds and to remove any obstructions to maintenance.
- GENERAL INFORMATION
The Cemetery District reserves the right to lay out and alter such avenues and walks, and to amend these rules, and make further rules and regulations for the Cemetery as they may deem necessary.
These rules and regulations may be altered or revised by a two-thirds vote of the Eckley Rural Cemetery Board of Directors as they may deem necessary.
A copy of these rules and regulations shall be given with each deed issued to purchasers of lots in the Cemetery and made available to others upon request.
The Eckley Rural Cemetery District is not liable for maintenance, repair or replacement of any gravestones, monuments, or memorials; not the planting of flowers or ornamental plants; not the maintenance of doing any special or unusual work in the cemetery; not the reconstruction of any marble, granite, bronze, steel, or concrete work on any section or plot whatsoever.
